​​Since its inception, generations of faculty members of SSU have united and worked tirelessly, and achieved remarkable results, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the university for decades. The abiding aspiration and hardworking spirit have inspired the faculty members, students and staff to forge ahead and further develop their ambitions.

The predecessor of Shandong Sport University is Jinan Sport Collage

In August 1958, with the approval of the State Council, Shandong Sport University was established on the basis of the Jinan Sport Collage and the Department of Physical Education of Shandong Normal University. The picture shows main entrance when the university was established:

In 1978, the State Council approved the reopen of Shandong Sport University. On April 21, 1979, Shandong Province Sports Committee Party Group decided to establish the Office of Campus Preparation of SSU, and Han Zhibo (second from right, front row) was responsible for the preparation of the office. In 1985, Gliding School of Shandong Province and Shandong Provincial People’s Stadium were put under the use of SSU. The picture shows the entrance of the west campus of the university then.

In 2000, based on Notice on Three Units Including Shandong Sport University Merging to Form New Shandong Sport University (Lu Zheng Fa 200036), the west campus was conducting “Three in One Integration. The Sports School of SSU was merged into SSU in 2014 (Founded in 1973, the predecessor of Sports School of SSU is Sports School of Shandong. It was merged into Shandong Sports Technical College in 2001)
